The children were so proud to share lunch with their Moms at school. It gave Moms a glimpse into their school time also. All the Moms seemed to enjoy it and we were thrilled to be able to do it for them. Two children were overheard saying “best day ever!!” Ms. Becky-Jo’s classroom as well as Ms. Sandy’s classroom even wore hats and scarves! It was a lot of fun and I would like to thank my kindergarteners for helping with the invitations, the place cards, the table setting, and the decorating. Speaking of Mother’s Day, I would like to congratulate Ms. Danielle on the birth of her baby girl!! We will miss Ms. Danielle and want to thank all of you for the baby gifts for her!

Our classrooms will be winding down for the academic school year. Our last day of school for those coming for the school year will be May 25. We will be transitioning into our summer by focusing on lots of science and lots of art. I would like to congratulate our kindergarten graduates, Colby and Clara. They will be moving up to First Grade next year. They have been super role models for the other children, wonderful readers, writers, and a JOY to have around!! They are perfect examples of what happens when a child completes the last year in the montessori cycle of learning. I cannot forget to include Sahara in this group also. Her family recently moved to another town, but she was loved by everyone in our school and I know she will do well in First Grade also, as she excelled with us!

Our summer camps are approaching! There is a change in the date for the Art Camp. It will be June 25-29. Mr. Larry has some fun art projects planned as well as lots of art activities on the shelves! Our Science Camp will be June 18-22. I am looking forward to putting lots of montessori science on the shelves as well as the mentos rocket!!! The cost for each camp is $100 if you do not stay on your current schedule.

Remember: The enrollment forms must be turned in by May 22, 2012 with the $100 re-enrollment fee. If you stay on your current schedule, then your fee is waived. If you do not turn in your form, we will not hold your spot. We need to be able to plan for children and staff and our spots are limited!

If you ever need an assessment of your child’s progress, don’t forget you can email me and we can set up a conference. We are always happy to share your child’s latest lessons and discoveries with you.

We look forward to a fun filled summer with lots going on! We hope to harvest our garden of cherry tomatoes and basil this summer so we can have a pizza party!

Fondly,
Linda Rose

Spring Blog
<dc:subject>Our Blog</dc:subject>

Spring greetings!

The children have been loving this beautiful weather! Mr. Larry stopped by one windy day on the playground and flew kites with the children. They had a super time! Our kindergarteners have been enjoying the weather also. We had a nature walk and gathered things birds would use to make a nest. They also enjoyed learning about volcanos and loved seeing our clay volcano erupt! They are great role models for the younger children and continue to love to learn to read books, learn new math skills like skip counting, and write creative stories. Our all day children had a blast with Ms. Sandy and Ms. Nicole last Friday. They had a St. Patrick’s Day Treasure Hunt and then got to play in the sprinkler!!!! I heard there was even a pot of gold at the end! Ms. Becky-Jo and Ms. Emily’s class enjoyed shamrocks and a snack of Lucky Charms!! Our Easter Egg Hunt is approaching. It will be Thursday, April 5. We are asking parents to please send in one dozen plastic eggs, as well as wrapped, soft candy for the hunt. If you signed up to help with the party, please see the teachers. Your child will need to bring in a basket for the hunt that day also. It is always a lot of fun and we are looking forward to it! Our Easter Break begins at noon on Thursday, April 5. When we return from Easter Break, we hope to have some t-shirts for sale by the end of April. We will have more on this later. We will also be sending out our re-enrollment forms for next year when we return from break. They will be due in May. Don’t forget we have super science and art camps in the summer. We are planning the dates now and will be posting them in the foyer.

Your children bring us joy in their discoveries and learning,

Linda Rose

February Blog - Valentine's Day
<dc:subject>Our Blog</dc:subject>

Hello!

Thanks for all the positive feedback we have received about our new website! Larry did a lot of work on it and we think it represents our school and community of children wonderfully. Our classrooms are humming along and the children are making new discoveries as they work with the montessori materials. Each child gains confidence as they learn to choose works off the shelf, work with these materials in a constructive way, discover the goal of each work and clean up the work by putting it back on the shelf for the next child to be able to choose. If you would like to come and observe a classroom, let me know and we can set up a time for you to watch. The children are learning to work as a community, make new friends and learn.

We will be having our Valentine’s Day parties on February 14. The Toddler classroom will be decorating mailboxes! If your child is in the Toddler classroom, please send 16 signed valentines for the children to exchange. Ms. Sandy and Ms. Becky-Jo will be celebrating and exchanging valentines together. If you signed up to help with the parties, please check with your child’s teacher. They will let you know what to bring. Please leave the envelopes on the valentines blank. We have a special way of letting each child deliver their valentines and it helps greatly if the envelopes are not addressed. If you are in Ms. Linda Rose’s classroom, please send 24 valentines. Also leave the envelopes blank. If your child can write their name then they may sign the card!! We are looking forward to having a fun filled party.

If your child has begun the process of reading by sounding out words, you have seen the little booklets we send home. They are very excited to show their families that they are able to phonetically blend a word. This is a building process and by the kindergarten year the child normally works through our series of reading books. The kindergarten year in a montessori classroom is the most important one, as all the skills they have been building on during the past three years all come together. The child blooms in so many ways and takes a leadership role in the classroom. We have a super group of kindergarteners this year!

If you have a question about your child’s progress or what they are working on, please contact your child’s teacher. We are all happy to talk with you! We have a splendid staff and I am so grateful for the love they have for the children and their untiring hard work!

Fondly,
Linda Rose

Hello Everyone and Welcome to our New Website!
<dc:subject>Our Blog</dc:subject>

Hello everyone! I hope you enjoy our new website. Miss Linda Rose will be posting her blog entry this evening and we will no longer send the newsletter through our email. We believe our webpage “Blog” will be much more efficient and will alleviate the issue of constantly changing email address. So, check often and tell others about our new website. Most of all thanks for being a part of the “community of learners at the Children’s House.” Our children are precious and it is a joy to see them active at school, learning, searching, and discovering the world around them. They constantly amaze me with the questions they ask and the things they want to share. Our school is truly blessed and each of us are blessed by being a part of it.
